Voluntary Contracts
Standard contracts require mutual agreement. The human approaches, offers payment, and receives power. These acknowledge devil agency and create genuine bilateral agreements. This is the most common and least ethically fraught form, though it still commodifies human bodies and lives.
Makima's Control
Makima's Control Devil ability is the ultimate forced 'contract.' She does not negotiate; she dominates anyone perceived as inferior. Her control is unilateral imposition, not agreement. The devils and humans under her control have no agency, making her power the antithesis of the contract system.
Gun Devil Possession
The Gun Devil's possession of Aki represents forced transformation, not contract. Aki never agreed; the Gun Devil simply overwhelmed him. He experienced a beautiful hallucination while his body committed atrocities, a perfect metaphor for how forced contracts destroy the person while preserving the body.
